YOUR LIFE IS A MIRROR
One of the most fundamental aspects of spirituality is that all power is
within. This relates to the deepest level. This means that everything
you experience is a result of your own creations. You are not only
responsible for your creations but you are creating your experiences
yourself. This is such a powerful truth that it is very difficult for us
to take on or hold onto, mainly because we simply cannot believe that we
can have such power!
Quantum physics shows us
how our thoughts literally have an effect on physical matter. However,
we do not need science to help prove this to us. Instead we need to
understand it because only then can we apply it our lives.
Creating Your reality is a
powerful concept. Traditionally, we go through life and believe that
things that happen to us are random and unpredictable. We believe that
if we experience pain, it is because we are unlucky. Traditional
psychology would teach us how to avoid pain because pain is inevitable.
Spirituality, on the other hand, teaches us that by embracing pain, we
actually let go of that pain so that it is not re-experienced ever
again. Spirituality teaches that pain actually comes from within us. The
painful and distressing experiences in our lives are reflections of the
pains and distresses we feel inside. Literally, our outer world reflects
our inner world. In this sense, in order to experience a joyful,
harmonious world outside, we must endeavour to reflect that joy and
harmony within.
If we look at our lives,
we may see many areas of our lives that we find stressful or painful.
Experiences of the past or in our present for example. All these
experiences reflect the Dark (the pains, insecurities) that we feel
within. The parts of ourselves that are in pain then reflect in our
outer world. This works vice versa as well. Let us take an example, let
us that we feel that we are surrounded by people who don't listen to us.
We feel that no one ever listens to what we say! All our friends are
more interested in talking about themselves than about us! Spirituality
would ask us to look within and to ask why are we reflecting this -
maybe it's a sign that we aren't listening to ourselves? Maybe if we
felt worthy about what we feel inside then we wouldn't have difficulty
in telling others about it?
Let's take another more
painful example. Let us say that a woman who is being physically or
verbally abused by her partner. Now of course, initially you may ask why
would this woman create this for herself? However, our creations reflect
our inner feelings about ourselves and generally in our lives we are
simply not aware of how we view ourselves - or even place importance in
it. So let us look at the situation spiritually. Remember there is no
blame in spirituality because blame would simply mean that someone else
has more power than you. This situation is indicative of a victor/victim
syndrome. This woman's husband feels a victor everytime he puts down his
wife. The woman feels like a victim everytime she is attacked. However,
it is the woman who chooses to be in this situation. Why has this woman
chosen to be in such a situation and not chosen to leave? Spirituality
would ask this woman to really look honestly at herself and ask why she
is reflecting this, what it is inside her that feels she Deserves to be
treated in such a way. Many, many people continually attract partners who
are very similar to their old partners, yet most of them say that they
were sure this new partner was different. This is because these
individuals
still haven't transmuted their pains within them - they still haven't'
learned their spiritual lesson from the experience and so they manifest
the situation again and again. That pain (that feeling of victimisation
) will continually be reflected in their outer world because it is how
they view themselves.
It is only when this woman realise that she is
allowing this situation to occur because she harbours intense feelings
of unworthiness that she liberates herself from the situation - her
lesson is learned, she transmutes her pain into wisdom. Ultimately we
come back to the core spiritual doctrine - Love Yourself. By loving
herself, this woman frees herself into her own life. Remember it is her
that decides everything in her life, whether she experiences that
situation or not. The power has always been hers, she has simply deluded
herself into believing that her partner has more power than her - she
has given him her power and thus she feels he controls her happiness. We
always have full control of how we feel - we either know this or we
delude ourselves into believing that another is making us happy or
unhappy - but the truth is that even here we are choosing for that other
to make us feel happy or unhappy!
If we go back to the first
example of Lee (mentioned in
Polarity), who was abandoned by his mother, we can see that his
relationships with women will reflect his inner pain. He may find that
he has real trouble maintaining a solid relationship with women. He may
find himself continuously in relationships where he is betrayed or left
for another. This a very common situation and it represents a reflection
of the individual's inner feelings. Lee's childhood pain of being
abandoned has been with him throughout his life and conditioned him to
believe that all women will leave you. Based on this belief, Lee goes
out into the world and not only manifests this before him, somehow
attracting all women who manage to do this again and again but also he
acts based on this belief. This means that he sees the world through his
kaleidoscope - a distorted vision of the world where all women will
leave you so you might as well use them. Lee will continuously cause
himself (and others) pain because of his inability to look within and
see why he finds himself in such situations.
As we begin to see
everything as a reflection, our outer world and inner world inextricably
connected, we begin to look at our lives as a wonderful flux of
creations. We begin to see the pains in our lives as powerful signs that
there are parts of our Self that need Love - so we see it as a positive
thing! For when we heal that part of us, when we transmute that pain,
that Darkness, into Light, we are liberated from it and we are wiser and
happier! Diseases for example are a reflection of dis-ease within the
body. What is this disease trying to tell you? What is it about your
life that creates so much dis-ease with you that you feel you have to
manifest it into a physical illness to get your attention!
