YOU ARE SOURCE

The first spiritual truth is perhaps the most important truth that we can ever learn. It is one that Jesus, Krishna, Buddha, Mohammed, Sai Baba and all the gurus teach. It is the truth that YOU ARE GOD. You are SOURCE. We hear this a lot in spiritual teachings but do we really understand it? More importantly do we believe it? All spiritual texts refer to this in some form or another. For example, the Bible says, "You were created in the image of God"

In order to understand this crucial spiritual truth, we need to first try and understand the nature of God, of Source, then we can understand our relationship to God. Let us imagine in the beginning, God existing as a giant mirror. At some point, God decides to create and so he/she does. Here we can imagine the mirror shattering into infinite pieces. Each shard of the mirror, each piece of the mirror, is a reflection of God. Each piece of the mirror is God, because it is a part of him. Each piece of the mirror is just as powerful, just as Divine, just as pure as another piece of the mirror. Each piece of the mirror can be named as the soul. You are those pieces of the mirror. You are a reflection of God, You are God.

God has many names - Goddess, Universe, Source, All That Is, Chi, Light, Energy, Oneness, Divinity, Creator. It is not the name but what it represents that truly matters. It is the essence of infinite intelligence and infinite beauty. It is Totality. It is You.

Each morning when you look into a normal mirror, you see your reflection - your body. But don't let your earth eyes deceive you - for in reality, the body is a house for the mighty Soul within. If you were to see your true reflection, you would be blinded by your own Light - for it is the Light of Source within you that shines so brightly.

Source is everything. Nothing can exist outside of All That Is, for that all that exists. Source is in everything, in every leaf of every plant, every rock, every grain of sand, every molecule of air, every star in the sky. The power of the sun flows through your being, for it is the energy of the Universe - the same energy that flows through everything. Think about that.

As a reflection of the Divine, you are also a reflection of one another. Whenever you look at another person, it is a sacred moment for you are looking at another aspect of God, another Soul. When you speak to another person, each and every day, you are speaking to God. We are each a reflection of another. Think of a diamond. A diamond is perfect, it is flawless. A diamond has many faces, yet all faces link to the same core. This is the same as you. There are many faces of God, just as there are many people on the planet, yet no one face of God is better or less than another. This is because it is the same Source energy that flows through. When you look into any one of those faces of the diamond, when anyone looks at you, they are seeing the same thing - a reflection of themselves - All That Is.

Each face of the diamond represents a unique expression of All That Is. Each of you represent a unique, special reflection of God. It is your birthright to be who you are, that is why you exist, to be yourself. There are many paths to God and the path you choose and are on right now is perfect for you because it is your own face of the diamond. We can never identically follow another person's path because that is their own. God has created us to be unique and different. Through this uniqueness, God is exploring just as we are. By remembering your true nature, you remember and acknowledge the power within - God.

There is an old Zen story. It tells of a lion cub, a baby lion that has been abandoned by its parents. It is lying in the forest and a family of sheep wander by and see the lion on its own. The sheep decide to take the lion in and raise it. Throughout its life, the lion lives with the sheep, eating sheep food, following the sheep everywhere, copying the way sheep move and act and walk. Its whole life, the lion thinks it's a sheep because it doesn't know any better. One day, another older lion passes by and can't believe what its seeing - it watches this lion walking amongst sheep and jumping over fences like a sheep. The older lion says to the younger lion "what are you doing? Why are you jumping over fences like you're a sheep" The younger lion is even more shocked and exclaims, "What kind of creature are you! I've never seen anything like you before!" The older lion realises what has happened and asks the younger lion to walk with him to a nearby pond Here for the first time, the young lion sees its true reflection and realises that it is a lion itself.

And this is what is happening on this planet. You are lions, thinking you are sheep. There is a lion within each of you sleeping, pretending that it is a sheep. You are God pretending to be a human being. You are the Infinite experiencing the finite. When you truly believe in the Divinity of your Self and who you are, then your life will be filled with joy.

All our pain in our life, all our misery and suffering and all our lack comes from the fact that we do not believe we are worthy - we do not recognise our essence as love-natured beings. We think we are simple human beings without purpose, direction or meaning. We think we are alone, we don't believe in ourselves and we do not love ourselves. And this brings us to the next spiritual truth - Love Yourself.

We hear this a lot in spirituality but do we really understand it? More importantly do we believe it? Many of us think, if we love ourselves we are being selfish, we are being egotistical. This is because we do not fully understand what this teaching is about.

Remember that everything is God. God is meaning and purpose and creation and existence and oneness. There is a word for this state of being - Love. God is Unconditional Love, for everything else is an illusion. Unconditional Love is the highest force in the Universe because it encompasses everything. When you love, you allow for everything. You are open to everything. You are boundless, nothing can bind you and nothing can hurt you. Fear is the opposite of Love. When you are fearful, you restrict yourself. You are closed and limited. Here you are always open to harm.

We are made of love. We need love to survive. Everything we do, we do for love. Every single action, thought and decision you make in your life is based on love. You might at first not believe this but it this a spiritual truth, let me explain.

When we don't love ourselves, we look outside for this love. One of the biggest problems in our lives is attachments. Because we are not taught about our true nature as God, as soon as we are born on this planet we don't know our true power source. And so we think the external world has more power than us. We think love can only come from the outside. We think only things outside of us can make us happy. For example, we think if we get a house, it will make us happy. If we get a respectable job, it will make us happy. If we drink, it will make us happy. If we eat, it will make us happy. But the truth is none of these things have any power at all. The house doesn't decide to make you happy, it has no power. Only you do. You decide if that house makes you happy. The job can't decide to make you happy, only you can. You decide if that job makes you happy. The lesson here is that the house, job or money doesn't make us happy. It is only our decision to allow things to make us happy. So if someone takes that car or that house away, immediately we are unhappy. This is because we have formed an attachment to that thing outside of us.

When we have attachments, we place our power in things outside of us. When those things outside of us change, then so does our happiness. What we are really doing is thinking that love comes from outside. Let me give you an example. You might be happy now but then one of your friends phones you up and tells you that they have bought a brand new top of the range car. Now you're unhappy, you want that car. So you save up some money and eventually you buy an even better car! Now you're happy. But remember, you were happy before you knew you wanted that car and after you bought that car. So really it is only the want that made you unhappy. When you told yourself I need that car to make me happy, you immediately made yourself unhappy. The car didn't make you unhappy or happy - it has no power - you decide what makes you happy. Because you are God, it is only you that has the power.

Similarly, the same is true for money. We think money will make us happy. But as soon as we get money, we want more money and more money. This is because we are still searching for something external that actually exists internally. Money has no power over us, it is only us that decides whether or not money will make us happy. A rich man's happiness depends on his car, his money and his lifestyle. However, he always wants more because he thinks money is making him happy but it never gives him the happiness he desires because money has no power. Many of you already know that people with a lot of money are often very lonely and unhappy - this is because they have got all this money and now wonder why they are still unhappy and still feeling empty inside. If that rich man's money is taken away he will be even more unhappy. The truth is that a poor man, who is full of love will be totally happy. This is because nothing outside can harm him. Obviously this doesn't mean you have to be poor! But it means that if you find happiness with who you are and what you've got - then anything that comes your way will be a bonus and will make you even happier. When you live this lifestyle, you attract everything towards you. You allow God into your life, to work with you.

We think that other people can make us happy but in truth this can never happen. We think if people around us respect us and like us then we are happy. So we try desperately to make everyone around us like us. We act in ways to make sure they like even more. But each time we do this, we are moving away from the God within. God needs to be free. God doesn't belong in chains or restrictions or barriers. You can only ever be happy when you are free. Love allows complete freedom.

When you love yourself, you are sourcing love from within. You are not trying to get it from others or other things. When you are trying to get love from other people, you are not being true to yourself or to them! When you love yourself, you are being true to yourself and to other people. It is impossible to truly love another person if you don't love yourself first. This is because we are seeing the world through dirty glasses if we don't love ourselves. The pains that we feel inside, the insecurities we have about ourselves will be reflected onto others. If we don't love a part of our self, then that part of our self will cloud our vision. We will see others through this insecurity. For example, if deep inside you think other people are more confident than you or have more friends than you or are better than you in some way, then you are sending a clear message to yourself. You are saying other people are better than me, therefore I must be inferior in some to others. you are not loving a part of yourself here. Then when you meet others you will have this insecurity within you, it will cloud your vision. When you speak to others, you will immediately feel less than them and this can make you angry, jealous, insecure - basically you are not able to love another person because you are also comparing yourself with them. You are basically judging yourself against another. True love does not judge another being, for it knows that within we are all equal. When we harbour love within, we can truly express that love to others. The truth is everything we need is within. Whenever you look at another person and feel jealousy, angry or envy, remember that these feelings emerge because you still do not love all parts of yourself. All negative emotions emerge because we do not harbour unconditional love for ourselves.

When we truly love all parts of our self, nothing can harm us. When we truly love ourselves, we are at one with God and then the miracles occur. Abundance, joy and happiness come our way as our God and Goddess enters our daily life. When you are happy with who you are, what you have right now and everything around you - then you allow God into your life, for you allow the GOD within to be free. This is where true happiness comes from -within.

The next time you look in the mirror, remember the lion within you. Remember the Light that shines so brightly within, feel it inside you, feel it glow beneath your skin. It can never be dimmed. You can never put that Light out. If you feel worthless sometimes or you feel that another person is better than you, it is an illusion. For one part of God cannot be better than another part of God. All are God and all are equal. True happiness comes first from this powerful realisation. For this one moment, right now, let go of the illusion that you are anything less than God. In this sacred moment, let go all your attachments and surrender to the knowledge that you are perfect. Realise right now that God loves you totally, God does not judge you, God does not put you above another, so why do you? God knows all your secrets and he will still never judge you or love you less because you are God! God knows everything and God understands everything. You see how good this makes you feel? Trust your feelings, they lead to your own Truth.

 Happiness comes from wisdom. And wisdom comes from Love.
